Hi All, I have a 1991 Maxum with a mercruiser 4.3 v6. I overheated it a few weeks back and installed a new pump and water pocket, all melted. Now I can't startt it!
If I spray quick start in , she goes. I took the fuel line off and get fuel pouring out when you turn it over. I cleaned out the filter at the carb intake. Is this possibly a float issue? and if so would overheating do that?

welcome aboard.

if you overheated it enough to melt the waterpump housing, the exhaust flappers would have long since melted and dropped into the y-pipe

you could have damaged the carb. however I am willing to bet you simply dislodged a bunch of crud which is now gumming up the insides of your carb.

What he said ↑.

If so, you need a carb rebuild. The Mercruiser service manual is a great source of step by step guidance on going through a carb.
