Ok hopefully someone will be able to help me with this question. I have a 1993 Sea Ray with a Merc 4.3 (serial number OF121304). I need a new engine and I found a 1992 Merc 4.3 (serial number D823678) Is there anyway to find out if I can swap these two engines without any issues? My current engine has a crack on the starter mount. The engine that I am looking at is drop in ready. Thanks for any advice or info.

You will have to tell us that..

The blocks from '92 and on have the balance shaft.. if your block is a true 92.. maybe. if its from 91, no it won't.

I received an email from the marine yard that has the 92 and they say it is an exact fit, so I guess my next question would be, if it does not have a balance shaft is it a deal breaker?

Thanks for all the posts

Deal breaker? no tif the price is right. It'll just shake a little, most noticable from 1200-1800 RPM. Most boats don't hang around in that range for long.
