Hello guys, I pulled the drive off and found the problem straight away, the Gimbel housing water feed hole was blocked with white crystal greasy stuff. Cleaned the hole and flushed water now flowing perfect. One last question I am putting a new thermostat in the old one had 140 c stamped on it, however the mercruiser dealer only has a 160 degree C thermostat until the later part of next week. Would this 160 thermostat be ok? Thanks Waitkei

Most likely your old 140 is fine
And if your in fresh water then there will be no issue with a 160

The 140 is bent on the flange as I hit it out to get severely stuck brass sleeve out. I will be using it in sea water not fresh.

Then you want a 140, the salt is hard enough and the cooler temp helps keep the salt issues down
