Mercruiser 4.3 Repower Engine Mount Question

Still finishing up my repower on my 2006 Sea Ray 185 Sport, replaced a sick 3.0 (Should be boating!) I dropped the engine in after rebuilding boats engine mount blocks, replaced the wood and re-glassed. I did not change the outer mold line of the mount, just took the top off and replaced the 4x4 inside. My question is should the mounts be further outboard or is that just how it is. ( see pictures) I have nothing to compare it to since it was previously a 3.0 boat. The donor engine I rebuilt was a 2000 vortex 4.3. From what I can tell the Mercruiser engine mounts are pretty much the same. I appreciate any insight, want to be sure before I drill into my new mounts.

will likely be okay as long as you are installing lags into solid material but if it were my rig i'd like to see at least an inch of flat area to the inboard of the mount

Thanks dubs, I'm considering extending the mount a few inches outboard, 3/8" steel bolted/welded to the mount, more work!

Ayuh,..... The only way to know Exactly where the mounts have to be built is to hang the motor, 'n insert an alignment bar,.....
Where ever the motor's mounts are when Aligned, is where ya gotta build the wood mounts too,.....

Like to get your thoughts, instead of modifying the mount itself and significant fabrication how about a 3/8" steel plate under the current mount flush bolted from the bottom to the current mount and extended outboard and lag screwed to the boat mount. See the image, sorry amount my picture edit skills!
