Mercruiser 4.3 v6 Lower Unit Gear Ratios?

We just got our 1988 Dynasty ski boat back from the shop. It has a 4.3 v6 Mercruiser. They replaced the lower unit only and now the boat doesn't seem to have nearly as much towing power as it did before. Does anyone know what the possible gear ratios are? Could they have replaced the lower unit on our boat with a unit that is geared differently? I guess I just assumed they would replaced it with the same. How many possible gear ratios are there and should we have specified the gear ratios when we agreed to the repairs?

Who replaced the lower unit? Replaced with a new, or used unit? and most importantly, are you using the same propeller as before?

Gear ratios are determined by the upper......not the lower.
