Regarding a Mercruiser 4.3L, SN 1A629461. Recently purchased the boat and have no experience w/IOs. Removed port exhaust elbow to inspect... corrosion not bad but the graphite gaskets on the manifold and elbow were damage removing bellows from elbow. Cannot find replacements to go above and below the restrictor gasket (27-864850A02) and these items are not called out in service manual #25. What am I missing? Much thanks.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Not sure I understand what yer sayin',........ But,......

On the typical raw water situation, there's only the restrictor gasket at that joint,......

I think yer just seein' the remains of a single gasket,..... Look Here,.....

Thanks for the timely reply. After looking at your link I opened the packing on my new gaskets and noted the thin film of gasket material that was on the stainless plate. There was no gasket material on the stainless plate I originally removed as it had transferred to the manifold and elbow. My error in not looking closely at the replacement gaskets. Thanks again for helping clear up my confusion.

If you have a SS block off plate you have a heat exchanger, Using a SS blockoff plate any type of gasket above and below is sufficiant
