Mercruiser 4.3L Running Rough

Hi, my friend just purchased a used boat. It's got a 4.3L Mercruiser Alpha One V6 motor, and when we start it up it runs really rough. The idle speed seems really low and it dies sometimes. I don't know how long it has been sitting without being used, but there isn't much gas in the tank and it has been like that for a while. Any tips on getting this thing running better?

If it sat up for a while you might need to get the carburetor rebuilt.

first, get some fresh fuel. if that doesn't help what the other guys said.

Don't forget to check the compression.
