I've been chasing a voltage drop issue on my 4.3l Larson. Alternator has been checked over and is good. Something in the engine bay area is pulling down the voltage to 11.5 v or so. I shotgunned the coil, no fix. I did get .5v rise by disconnecting the carb heater, but I kid of expect that's possible normal. Does the main wiring connector at the engine, looks to be held together with screws, get corroded and cause high resistance? My next step is to separate this and take a look. Any known problem areas that would pull down the voltage from the normal 13.5 v or so?

Where and under what situations are you seeing the 11.5V?

start disconnecting and cleaning every connection from the battery to motor to helm and back. once clean enough to eat off, then seal with marine electrical varnish.
