Hey, So I recently purchased a 1987 192 Welcraft classic with the 470 mercruiser 3.7. My friend owned it for 8 years and is now moving to maine so I purchased the boat. He re did all the floors, alternator kit, recent bellow and water pump. The boat alway had a slight 'knock" at low rpms but cleared right up when bringing the rpms up over 1200. I took the boat last weekend on a 20mile trip 40miles total. Never did the temp get above 150 and I kept the RPMS under 3500. The boat was extremely hot when we got to where we were going so im concerned I may have over heated it and the gauge was faulty. The boat was running fantastic till this trip. Now it will barely idle making it almost impossible to get on the dock and has a lack of power threw the whole power band. I can only describe it as feeling like I have weeds on the prop but there are no weeds. I know these motors have there quirks but the fuel millage and power it had I dont mind putting some money into it. I would like to do a full rebuild over the winter but that docent help me right now. Anyone else experience something similar if so what was the issue? Thanks

Sounds like best case you might have blown a headgasket. First thing to do is check your compression...
