Mercruiser 470 vs 140

I have an early 80's 470 in my boat, I just bought a bunch of parts off of a guy from a same year 140.
Carb, Distributor, Starter, Water pump, Bottom end. They look the same what are the differences and are they interchangeable. Thanks for any input.....ED

most carbs will/might fit.dist will, starter wont.No water pump on a 470 to replace. different bottom end

They are very different engines. One is more or less 1/2 of a 460 made of aluminum. The other is an industrial GM/ Chevy engine
