Mercruiser 485 Oil leak?

i have 1983 485, there seems to be oil leaking from under the inlet manifold? any ideas?

Do you mean the intake manifold? (the thing the carburator is bolted to?)

Ayuh,... LOOK to see where it's coming from,...
Oil, like water, flows Downhill....

You can check your valve cover gasket, but oil leaks on that side of the engine are usually from a bad intake manifold gasket, or the side cover gasket. The side cover is the long bolted plate right under the intake manifold. Neither gasket is expensive, and both are fairly easy to replace. Use a very, very thin layer of RTV on the intake manifold gasket if you do replace it. The intake manifold bolts get torqued to 25 lb ft (34 Nm), and the side cover bolts get torqued to 15 lb ft (20 Nm). Good luck.
