Mercruiser 5.0 dying out

I have a 1995 Sea Ray 200 signature series with the 5.0 Mercruiser / Bravo 1 sterndrive all original. I recently took my boat out and had some trouble getting it started. Usually I don’t have to use the choke to get my boat to start, but this time I had to choke it and it finally roughly started. Went around for 20/30 minutes and it started to make a miss sound/like it was out of fuel. Took it to a shop and they replaced the spark plugs, distributor cap and wires, adjusted the timing and adjusted the carburetor. Took it back out and ran great for 30 minutes then it went back to doing the same thing. Keep in mind, it is starting good now and it had idled great just as soon as I would put it under a full load it will make the noise and then completely start to die out. Took it back to the shop and they told me they couldn’t find a problem. Strange thing is I can’t get the problem to replicate if it’s hooked up to ears at my house, only under a load in the river.

At this point I’m thinking maybe it’s the float in the carburetor is sticking and it’s starving fuel or the fuel lines to the tank are beginning to collapse. Carburetor jets are shooting fuel when the problem is happening and I have not yet put a fuel pressure gauge on. If anyone has had a problem like this or has any idea any help is greatly appreciated!!

It only happens unload, I would check fuel pressure (3-7 psi)

I choke will open fully normally within close to 10 minutes if that. Place motor under load and it will takes less then 30 minutes to get full warm. Would usually take longer then 30 minutes to draw a vacuum on the tank

My thought is if the fuel pressure is staying up, then its electrical, if it doesn't stay up then its a fuel problem

Sounds like a fuel problem. Bugs me when a dealer decides that replacing electrical stuff is an answer. Said electrical components which are really pretty good for a lot of thousands of hours,.

Loosen the fuel cap when it happens. If the vent line is clogged it won't let air into the tank. Also could be dirty fuel filters or partially clogged fuel pickup, or anti syphon valve.
