I have a 5.0 mpi that was built in may of 2005, it's in my 06 tahoe, so I don't know whether they consder it a 05 or 06. I went and bought the fuel filter when I was out the other day, and apparently they sold me the canister type for the alpha. Since I have the bravo unit apparently it takes a drop in filament type, Any info on the part number would be appreciated. It's the kind you have to take 3 screws off the top of the fuel pump housing, remove the cover with the handle and pull the fuel filter out, then just drop in another.

Well that figures, that my boat would take the 35 dollar filter instead of the 10 dollar filter. That's def. par for the course.

Re: Mercruiser 5.0 fuel filter help

have napa cross reference that # maybe they carry something a little cheaper....also look at it before you take it home, you never know...unless you want to start a hobbie of collecting non needed filters:D I've noticed in the marine part world that there is almost always a big difference in price out there so it mostlikely pay to shop around first.

Just a quick story....Im looking for a alternator for my boat and I looked at all the big on-line dealers local marinas etc. they all want $120-$220 some new some reman (some remans were more $$$$ than the new ones), for the same part #. Went to e-bay found a marine dealer with the same part # brand etc. brand new alt $80 with $8.00 shipping out the door 1 year warranty.
