Hello Guys,
I am an new boat owner, this is my first season. I bought a used 2007 Monterey 214 fs with 5.0 mpit serial #OW666094
and Alpha 1 gen 2 drive serial #OW873001 gear ration 1.62. Thus far I love it, I wished I got a boat like 5 years ago. When bought the boat had 149.8 hr. it was used 4 seasons in salt water and now 5 season in fresh water. From now on it will only be used in fresh water. So far I had an issue when we would shut of the boat for some time after long use, it would take like no joke 8 to 12 times before it would stard. I did some research and I found out it could be a vaporlock. I bouth an anti-siphon valve and I shortened fuel line by 3 inches. That work well, now boat starts first time andy time. Also when I bought it before I put it in the slip, I've changed all oils, greased whatever should be greased except coupler b/c i could find/get to it. Also I replaced water pump assebl. So now, at least I know how to do those things on boat.
After season ends, this is what I'm planning on doing
I already ordered and will replace items bellow:
1. MERCRUISER TRANSOM SERVICE KIT - Alpha One Gen II | GLM Part Number: 21960; Sierra Part Number: 18-8206; Mercury Part Number: 30-803099T1
2. MERCRUISER ALPHA ONE SHIFT CABLE ASSEMBLY KIT (NEW STYLE) | GLM Part Number: 21451; Sierra Part Number: 18-2190; Mercury Part Number: 865436A02
3. MERCRUISER ALPHA ONE GIMBAL BEARING SEAL | GLM Part Number: 85910; Mercury Part Number: 26-88416
4. Teleflex Marine 18-3214 Impeller Kit
5. Sierra International 18-7633 Marine Trim Sender and Limit Kit

Also bought:
Teleflex Marine 18-9031 Bellows Adhesive and
Mallory 9-79805 Hinge Pin Tool

Now my questions, and there might be a lot of them.
I this all that i should replace? Or I've missed something?
Should I do this at the end of this season or in the begining of next season?
Does MPI engine need to be fogged? If yes, what good product you guys use?
What anti-freeze you guys recommend?
I have a chance to keep cushions in heated basement which I will do and same for the battery. What about the outdrive? Should I remove it and stored in heated basement or it's ok to keep it on boat during winter?

Also after few uses I noticed that bilge pumps works very often. I did notice water so I became concerned. After my inspection I noticed that one house is missing a hose clamps on each side. I guess they snapped off or something. I installed hose clamps and bilge is dried as it can get. However, i noticed when I was installing clamps that there was a brown stuff mud I guess on each side of the hose. My engine always operates at 175F whether crusing or at WOT for longer time. My question is what should I do? Should I take off all the hoses and clean them with some kind of chemical solution? I also want to remove the manifolds and risers to inspect them. Now, I know that I will have to reinstall them with new gaskets, got that. But how do I inspect them and clean them? How would I know if I cleaned them well and I can reinstall them or that it's time to replace them which I don't really want b/c they are a lot of money. But on the other hand I don't want to suffer a hydrolock.

Also for the jobs that I'm planning on doing which tools I really need?
I know I will need engine alingment tool no doubt about that. If i can get away without some tools that would be great. They are expensive too, and as of now I think that I will not purchase bellow expansion tool. Might be hard but I don't mind scraped knuckles :).

Lastly, to all of you I know that this is huge amount of questions. I will really appreciate any help, I actually want to do those jobs by myself. Pride and satisfaction is very important to me however, I think for that I will need some of your expertise. Thanks a lot in advance.

Tomasz

Wow! congrats on the new boat. Sounds like a gem. Sounds pretty gung-ho, too. You're more than likely replacing more than actually needs to replaced, but if it is peace-of-mind you are looking for, then by all means! You also should make sure you do good research (on here) and ask questions on some of the major component replacements, as after-market may be cheaper, but is not near as good as OEM in alot (not all) cases and will cause more headaches than the money you save. (in particular, things like bellows and shift cables)
My current rig is 22 years old and runs like the day it was new, basically just doing the basic PMs (adjustments, lubing, oil changes, impeller kit) that you'll find in the Adults Only section that Bond-o talked about.
I am also into saving money (but, as you know, it is a B.O.A.T.;)), so I got my alignment tool on amazon for 47.99 (shipped) and am very happy with that.

welcome aboard:D

Hi,
Thank you, I will check out the "adults only" section. As far as tools, I find kobalt tools to be decent. I have 227 pc mechanics set. I think that should do for now.

Hello,
Thanks for advise. Well I just received items that I ordered, they seem to be good. Indeed, peace of mind is what I want.
