As far as the ignition goes, my personal feeling is to keep the points and condenser, the electronic ignition is great when it works but does not buy you any noticable proformance increase, maybe easier starting, but points and condenser is a no brainer. just carry a spare and you can install them and keep on going........ Carb is a different story, the Qjet carb that comes with the unit is not designed as well as some others on the market. edelbrock is marketing a carb called the carter AFB a spinoff of the old Carter carbs, that i feel is much better designed. I installed a 650cfm on my 350 about 2 years ago and it appears to be heads above the Qjet in all ways... some folks like the holleys but I have heard they are prone to leak at the pumps.... and leaking gas on a boat is not the best thing to have......anyway get all the info you can and make a choice.......good luck
