I bought a 95 Scarab that had been mostly used in saltwater and am replacing the corroded parts one by one. The only snag I've hit is the thermostat housing. I have a "Design 2" and the only one available is the "Design 1". From my research on the internet, catalogs and asking the local boat shop I am the first person in the history of boating to have to do this.
My question is what order does the Design 1 go back together. I have thermostat, cork gasket, brass retainer(lip facing thermostat) gasket then Y diverter. This seems to make it function the same as my old Design 2 housing. Any ideas?
