Guys
Please see the link below to a boat for sale over here. She is no doubt stunning, but I'm questioning the claimed horse power of the boat.
The guy reckons she has twin 370hp engines.
I'm pretty sure that the old carb 7.4 don't have anything like this kind of power, so I asked him if they had been modified. Responded that they hadn't and HP claim was accurate and told me he was an expert on these engines.
Is it possible he is getting confused and perhaps given it has the trs drives, they may be trs 370 drives and he has taken this number as HP ?

In the 80's ? Man...I might be wrong then. I thought they were about 330 at a push.
Are the newer 7.4 mpis not only about 330, even today.

Yes, late 1980's - mid 1990's approximately. The oval port carb'ed 7.4L were 330 hp and the rectangular port carb'ed were 365 hp. There may have even been some rated at 385 HP. . . not sure. When the MPI versions came along in the mid-late 1990's they bumped the HP rating down to 300-310 HP range.

It wouldn't take much to make a 7.4L 370 HP.... especially on a boat where emissions are mostly unregulated. But my 1999 MPI 7.4L in a cab and chassis 1 ton shipped at measly 310 HP.

Thanks guys...is it not possible that the seller is seeing the 370 trs drives and thinking the engines are 370hp
