Mercruiser 7.4 MPI fuel delivery problems

I have a '98 Bayliner Ciera 2855 - 7.4 MPI that's been running great until this week. After running 15 minutes at 3600 RPM, she started to slowly decelerate. (I thought it was throttle creap.) RPMs continued to fall to 2500 then oscillated wildly. Utlimately fell to 1500, then she quit. My marina mechanic came out and removed the fuel filter (no water found), and put a new one on. After all this (about 30 minutes), the engine fired right up and I was able to motor back (10 minutes), on plane, like nothing ever happened.

We test drove the boat later and it quit again. Same symptoms. Ran great for 15 minutes then slowly died.

The electric fuel pump was really noisy at idle so that was changed. Then, after some back track'n, they found that my anti syphon valve was cracked so that was changed too. Subsequently, a 35 minute test drive appeared to prove the problem(s) was/were fixed. Today I took her out and after 15 minutes and - you guessed it - she died. Same stuff.

I'd appreciate hearing if anyone has any experience with fixing this. Thanks.

I'd rebuid the carb next, could have been the original problem.

Restriction in the fuel tank vent line, maybe?...

The problem turned out to be the new anti syphon valve that was installed. Seems that it sucked up a piece of metal that was in the fuel tank, probably dating back to original construction.
