Mercruiser 7,4MPI will not run after a stop

our 7,4 MPI runs great until we stop it for about an our or something. When we then start it, its start imedeatly, but ask quik we try to get over 800rpm its stop quikly. We can then start it again, but not idle more than too set it in gear forward.
What can it bee?? can it be elektical fuel pump?? its reare that it is just when the engine have been stops for a while.
If we let it been stpos in about 4 hour or more, its always runs great.

What is the engine serial number and the year of the engine? It does sound like fuel vapor lock. Open this link and find the year 99 on the left side and open it, then open and read number 99-7. http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/sbcover.pdf

I have not the engine ser.number her, but it is from 1996. It is an 454 big block engine.
What is fuel vapor lock an where on the engine is that?? Is that the same like VST tank??
My english is a little bad, but that is becouse i am from Norway

The engine number is: 0C631298 and it is from 1996
I have a hose that is too close to one of the raisers and it goes up in a circel and so too the engine fuel filter. That istnt optimale?? are you agree
