Mercruiser 888 with Alpha 1 Sterndrive?

Hey guys,
I just bought a 1972 Slickcraft 235. The original MC1 strendrive had been replaced with an Alpha 1 (serial # 6911746) that bolted on some time ago. Sea trialed fine, shifted well etc. Should I be concerned? Is this a common interchange? Thanks in advance, Chris

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,..... When ya replace an MC-1, that's what ya bolt on, an Alpha 1,.....

It's a common up-grade, ya see more often as MC-1s continue to die,....
