I have a similar carburetor problem discussed in the forum where when the engine is stared, when hot, it tends to flood. in addition when it is shut down it diesels for a few seconds. don't no if the two are related or seperate problems.
Re: mercruiser 99 3.0, engine diesels after shutdown
What makes an engine diesel after shut down, any one of or combination of the following:
idle too high
engine temp
timing
bad gas
carbon in combustion chamber
Re: mercruiser 99 3.0, engine diesels after shutdown
The two biggest reasons for the 3.0L engine to diesel is high idle rpm (anything over 750 rpm will diesel for sure) you should idle between 650 and 700 rpm.
Second reason is not allowing the engine to idle for a minute or two after being on plane. This allows the engine to cool and for the excess gas from pulling back to idle to burn off.
