I have a stainless Laser II from an old Alpha 1 Gen 1 1987 vintage and I am wondering if I could mount the wheel on a 2001 Aplph 1 Gen 2 outdrive.

Currently I am running an aluminum prop on a 21 Chaparral ssi with a Mercruiser 5.7 EFI 260 HP stern drive. The boat does good turning about 52 mph on glass water... Very little bow rise and generally a nice cruiser. I would like to boost the top end for those times when I like to hot-rod around...

The wheel came off a 19 Larson Senza with a 230 MC stern drive...

Thoughts?

It'll fit. If it has vents, you'll want to plug them. They make plugs.

Thanks!

Yes it does have vents, but they are square... the newer lasers have round vents and they are the only plugs that I have seen.

Thoughts on the square vents?

Hi WBW. I've noticed you suggested plugging the vents on stern drive props before. What kind of problems do the vents cause?
