Why does choosing a prop seem so complicated? I have a very common configuration runabout.
Reinell 18.5 foot open bow with a mercruiser 4.3L carbed alpha one. The al three blade prop is beat and I need a new one. Wife and I and 4 - 6 small kids are on it at any one time. I am not interested in top speed, but definitely want to get it out of the water quick and on plane and also handling really tight. Current prop is 15 pitch from what I can tell and the boat runs nice. I've been looking at the four blade apollo or titan 4 although I think I would like to get the titan as I believe the apollo is made in China. Should I go to a 16 pitch ? What is the better prop? Any other recommedations? Also I've heard the Rubex rubber hub by Solas is really good.. Thanks for any help

You are a pair of really helpful f$%kwits aren't you. Thanks for the smart***** answers. There is plenty of info in the post to get a valid response. I suppose you don't really know a whole lot about the subject. What a really helpful forum.

Actually there are many people here that know alot about the subject. You did not provide enough information. Read the sticky and post the required info or don't expect any help.
We can only guess, but either you read the pitch of the prop wrong, or you boat is pitched terribly wrong. A carbed 4.3 with the usually standard 1.81 drive ratio will be all over the rev limiter with a 15 pitch, and probably top out in the mid 30 mph range all while damaging the engine. Its definitely not the right pitch for the boat. A 16 pitch is probably still wrong.

We would know all of this if you read the sticky instead of cussing a guy who was only trying to help you...
