I was hoping to get some ideas on what my shifting problem might be due to. I have a single lever quicksilver shifter. My problem occurred when shifting into reverse - I had a bit of a tough time getting it back into neutral the other day -kinda nerve racking. I'm thinking either the shift cable that runs to the outdrive is sticking and needs to be replaced and/ or the adjuster near the kill switch needs some tinkering with -watcha think fellas? When I turn on the engine -i let the boat engine warm up a bit about 5 minutes next I generally put her in gear -no problem but sometimes shes a little slow to go back to neutral and then a bit slow to get into drive. What do you guys think?

Re: Mercruiser alpha one gen2 shifting problem

well I'm not sure im ready to after this project yet -I have never taken the drive off before -so i am hesitant to do this while still in season - the problem doesnt really show its head badly until I try to use reverse maybe i can limp to the end of the season with this and than go for the project. In the meantime ill try adjusting the shift cable and see if that helps. Thanks for the feedback
