As many of you know, Mercury Marine no longer sells the high pressure fuel pump 861156A1 as a separate part; it is only bundled with one of 3 Cool Fuel kits at twice the price.

Through Googling I found that Mallory 9-35433 is a direct replacement, but available stock can get pretty low during boating season. I was able to order the last item from firstchoicemarine.com, replaced it yesterday and my boat runs just fine.

When I received the Mallory pump, I noticed a different set of part numbers on the body, so went a-Googling and found yet another cross-reference that isn't documented on any of the boat forae I was able to find:

Airtex E11004

I attached a picture of my Mallory/Airtex pump next to my faulty Mercury Marine 861156A1.

I just ordered a spare Airtex from rockauto.com at a much better price than an eBayed Mercury pump or the Mallory 9-35433. I also found the Airtex in stock at Summit Racing if you're so inclined.

Very cool good to know! The nice thing is all those style pumps are sealed, and therefore comply with USCG regs

Very cool. I think I'm living on borrowed time... I have been watching the Mercruiser pumps on Ebay and they are very expensive! The part number I have for the Mercruiser pump is 861156A02. Is the A2 just a newer version?

Just looked at the price on Summit, it's a third of what they cost on Ebay! I might pick one up as a spare.
