Had to repower my '82 grady 3.7 with a late 80's 5.7. I wish to install an alarm kit. The boat didn't come with one but the 5.7 engine harness has the tan/blue tracer alarm wire. The question: is this wire supposed to be "hot" all the time---even with the ignition off? I've disconnected the harness plug @ the engine and then I obviously get no juice to the wire. Testing the male plug gives me no readings with the ignition on or off, but it obviously has power to energize that tan/blue wire when the plugs are mated. What am I missing here! Thanks
