my 81 hammond challenger drive has this stamped on it f 6340752 . one guy says its a number 1 drive and another says its a alpha . i am curious now as i cant seem to figure it out lol . sorry if the answer is posted else where i have looked hi and low . Thanks guys

Go here http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=329915 and look at the ID information. You do have a MC-1 drive being an 81. But you will understand more about your drive, plus some other things.

hmm interesting . looks exactly like the alpha wonder if its been changed ?

My bad, I went by year without actually looking up the serial number. Yes, you have a 1983 R drive with a 1:50 gear ratio.
