Mercruiser flame arrestor tubing question

The tubing from my crankcase to the flame arrestor is a black corrugated kind of cheap tubing. It connects to the flame arrestor on a small black tab. I messed up the end of the tubing and need to get a new one. Can I just use a silicone type tubing or something that will connect better? I know the air needs to be able to flow around that tab to get through. Thoughts?
Thanks for any help.

The oem hose is of a corrugated design that comes in bulk size of 16.50 inches from Merc. Part number 32-1589424. It's more flexible for easier installation then the older version but if you are unable to repair your old hose, you might be able find something similar probably at an auto parts store.

What is heater hose? What about silicone tubing?
DO I need to worry about a temperature rating?

Ayuh,.... Heater hose is hose used to plumb in a cabin heater, such as in a car, usually comes in 1/2", 5/8", 3/4", 'n 1",.....

Heat in that area, might run up to 100? or less,.....

As I said above, use whatever tubin' ya want, rubber, silicone, plastic, even clear vinyl will work,.......

prior to the corrugated plastic hose that only costs the manufacturer about $0.15 each, they used 1/2" heater hose (or 5/8" in some cases) which is about $0.50/foot

As Bondo stated, use what you want. its a vent tube to take crank case gasses from the valve covers to the outside of the flame arrestor.
