...been looking for a Merc full syn. Thanks for the p/n. I Googled it and found several online sources. It's been superseded to [h=1]92-8M0078630[/h]

Merc stop selling the stuff a few years ago is what I'm finding. They "say" the 25W40 blend was reformulated to meet the needs of the Cat motors. Ones that don't believe it are using other synthetic oils (Mobile, Amsoil, Royal Purple, etc)

Alldodge, why would they stop selling/making a full synthetic when practically every car manufacturer is using full synthetic on there cars? That seems to be a step backwards?!

I don't know, but in most all cases its money. They may make more profit using a blend then full :noidea: just reading "they say" its because the reformulated blend "better" fits the needs.

The closest thing I've found to a Merc viscosity full syn is Valvoline VR1 20W50 full syn. A bit pricey, but it covers the Merc temp/viscosity chart perfectly for my use and climate.

They do a synthetic blend high performance. I use it every year. It seems to hold its form better come time to change the oil. Oil pressure remains higher over the year compared to the the normal 25/40
