mercruiser help please

hi all, love reading the posts on here, and now i need some help please , ive got a mercruiser 5.l v8 (228) serial number 6372463, told should not have but has been fitted with the thunderbolt iv ignition some time in her life before i got her, ive changed the sensor inside the distributor,and a new coil,but wont start ,put spark tester on distributor ,and cranked engine , can see it light up around distributor then miss number 3, 6, and 5, then light up all the way around then miss 3, 6, and 5 , trying to get a ignition amplifier , not seen any in the uk on ebay yet ,been looking on ebay usa ,but missed it,

Cap and rotor look good?

hi, yes cap and rotor ok, got a spare distributor, and its still the same

Lets start from the beginning. Did it work fine one day and the next time stop working?

hi , when i got boat she had a distributor from a car on ,started great, with most off the rest in boxs, looking on here and got manuals,thunderbolt amplifer and coil on engine not wired up , i know i cant use the car distributor ,in the box was a thunderbolt distributor, plus i got another of ebay, want to get her up and running and know shes safe ,
