Thanks for the advice, 82 se ray, 260hp mercruiser, 888 drive - still having hesitation when rapid acceleration ease it in and seems to do better, we have replaced fuel pump, cleaned vents, new points, plugs, timing is perfect, distributor advances to abt 82 degrees at 3500, new fuel filters, replaced carb, compression is ok per mechanic. coil replaced, could the dashpot be a problem, the rebuilt carb appears to have an older dashpot on it.

Re: mercruiser hesitation

82 degrees at 3500,
 I assume you meant 32° ;)

Have you set the points with a dwell meter? Setting by gap isn't very accurate.

Have you re-adjusted the carbs idle mixture?
