Mercruiser ignition timing

Hi <br />Just perchased Proline 720 with V8 mercruiser 5ltr 260 horse. I am in Portugal and can not find any tuneing spec localy. <br />Can anyone help. The boat is 1992<br /> 00C619840 engine number<br /><br /><br />Thanks Graham. info@marinadivingco.com

Engine is a 1989 5.0LX most likely 230 horse.<br />SERVICE BULLETIN 95-11 says Initial Timing: 8° BDTC. Total Advance: 32° @ 3700 RPM

Id start at 6 unless the quality of your fuel is known.

can you describe which ign system you have fitted? thunderbolt, or est or points<br />?

If he has the original distributor, he has a Thunderbolt ignition.
