Mercruiser Inboard 350 Chevy

Electric fuel pum and ignition relay switches seem to short out.Once replaced runds periodically then stops.Recently the boat backfired and then quit.Any suggestions?

if it is wired correctly the fuel pump has to get power when the key is in the cranking position<br /><br /> after the key is in to the run positon the oil presure cut off switch should keep the pump running as long as there is oil pressure<br /><br />the only way to check is to connect a meter to the pump and see if it is loseing power or has power and just is not pumping<br /><br />i cant guess about the backfire it could be to many things with the fuel pump not working corrrectly it is hard to do anything until it works right<br /> <br /><br />tommays

Is this a Computer Controlled EFI engine ???????<br /><br />Never seen Relays on a Carbed motor.......
