i have been offered a mercruiser leg with a peugeot engine. engine is 1.7 turbo diesel, producing 85hp so he says, max rpm is 3500 however the leg is a petrol leg with ,he says, a 2:1 gear.
would this be ok or would it need to be changed? the engine has the adapter plate to couple to the leg and is marinised but the exhaust manifold is not water cooled. any body have any info would be great. this is possibly going into a 28' fast fisher. would 85hp be big enough???

i dont thing it has been made marine safe but dont know the marine saftey laws in the uk about and uncooled manifold

i guess this is a displacement hull so you only going 8 or 10 knots but i would want more than 85 hp to push against the weather

if it did not leave a builder as a unit it will tend to be a nightmare of hard to get parts

tommays
