Mercruiser/Mercury lower unit swap

Hi,
My brother has a 1995 Black Max 200 Hp outboard on which the lower unit has gone bad. I have a 1970s Mercruiser 470 with (I think) Alpha 1. Is it possible to swap out the lower unit on the Alpha to the outboard?

No.....Even if you could the gear ratio is different

Fast, I know the driveshafts are too short on an Alpha, but could you change that and bolt it onto a V6 Merc OB?

Dont know if rear stud pattern is the same on I/O vs O/B so cant say if it will bolt up and most of the I/O lowers are close to 1:1 ratio.. if ya wanted to go fast on a lite boat you might rig something up to make it work..
