Mercruiser "new" shift interrupt plate/switch (864363A 1)

Does anybody have any experience with the subject shift interrupt? Is the redesign worth the cost (~$120.00)? The old design was always a problem. My switch finally crapped out and direct replacements are NLA. Really don't want to buy a used one.

If worthwhile, any tricks for installation?

you need to tell us if the new switch is normally open, contacts close when pushed in or normally closed, contacts open when pushed in.
Also need to know the type of ign system.

The new switches seem to be a lot easier to deal with when adjusting their setting.

What is your engine year/model/HP or serial number?
