eng ine mod# mcm 4.3 lx 262 cid 205 h.p. transom ass. #ob853118 mercruiser drive unit #0b856002 could you tell what service manual # i need. also how can i determine if this engine is a fake mercruiser or not.i am about to pull engine due to water in crank case.going to tear down engine because it has been sitting couple years with water in oil.any suggestions?could you veer me to a reputable engine supplier if needed?

I would be very surprised if this engine is any good at all after sitting that long with water in it. My suggestion is new long block...

rapid o marine in miami sells and ships long blocks for 150 and around 1000 for the engine. ive been to the build shop and its a reputable place. everything is done to the blocks. and its boiled out four times. so far ive gotten 6 engines from him. all still goin strong and still under warranty

You can ID the engine using this service bulletin.

There will also be a metal tag on the back of the engine just over the starter with the Mercruiser engine serial number on it. For your engine, it should be 0B825796.
At least that was the engine serial number that was listed in your 20' Lund with the drive and transom shield you listed.

If it is the original engine or had a long block installed and used all the Merc accessories, you would need Mercruiser service manual #7, Merc PN 90-12410
The drive manual will be #6 with a pn of 90-12934--2

Even IF this is a Replacement Engine,................

WHY would it be a Fake,..??..??..??.......

After All,........ Every Mercruiser Engine starts out life as a Chevy...................
