Mercruiser or Volvo which one

i am boat shopping and have been looking at bryant and four winns boats. i have a local bryant dealer near me and he says I need mercruiser. the four winns dealer which is about 2 hours from me seems to prefer the volvo engine... which should I go with with long term

After taking the manuals off line, I `d go with Volvo

I have owned a OMC, a Yamaha(both no longer made) and a Mercruiser outdrive. Never a Volvo, but I can tell you the newer ones have an issue with the tilt pumps blowing seals. My buddy just had this happen and after some research I found out it was pretty common. They had to replace the whole pump, but the good news is that it is easy to replace, just about a $400 part.

The engines are all the same. They all use pretty much the same GM engines. My Alpha outdrive has been pretty good to me, but that all comes with maintenance I believe. Mine has been trouble free for almost 4 years,and I use my boat a lot.
