Hello all. I need more orange alternator wire for my 70A alternator. Does anyone know a part # or the size/type of orange wire Mercruiser uses? The wire has nothing written on it.

Hi there, The orange wire between the alternator and engine starter is a 10 gauge wire and I don't believe you'll find it directly from Mercruiser.

Also if your going much longer in length then you'll want to go with a 8 gauge wire.

If you go and buy wire make sure you go to a marine supply - or well equipped hardware store with marine wire. Do get the cheap wire from the auto parts store. The marine wire is tinned to help with corrosion issues. The same for the terminals, etc. Buy the good stuff with built in heat shrink. That will help avoid problems down the road. (Or river... or canal... ;) )
