So I have done quite abit of searching and have looked at the manual and still do not get it.So the question is ,How to remove the power steering ram from the inside transom plate? I have removed the pivot bolts but seems like there is something else that needs to be done.
Plate is on a 1981 mercruiser 260, with a merc-1 drive.

Power steering system consists of 2 parts, joined by the hydraulic tubes and the Cable End Adaptor... You need to read the GENUINE manual, (page 8 section 7) and follow each step. Are you using a GENUINE manual?

Well I am using the service manuals that are linked here on this web site. Is there a link to a genuine merc manual?

Ayuh,.... There's 2 big bolts, 1 goin' down, from above, 'n the other goin' up, from below, just port of center in yer picture, but hidden behind the actuator....
