Before I really start working on my engine. I would like to make sure, 100% what my engine serial number is for a positive I.D.
The decal on the engine was painted over (rebuilt engine - 100 Hrs. on it)
I was able to clean and scrape with my thumbnail (patience of Job)
all the paint off the decal. The only problem is that these decals had permanent print for all the info EXCEPT the S/N:
That was held on by some kind of contact cement and that cement was all that was left of that number even before I got there.
On a 1987 GM 4.3L V6 Mercruiser engine, where is the engine serial number located.
The intake manifold has the 1987 year, month and day cast into it as well. I know my boat is a 1988, but the motor was most likely made a bit before the model year of my CC.
The intake has a number cast into it as well. But this is a casting number, not a serial number.
Does anyone know for sure where the engine serial number is stamped?
Johnny
