Hi
I was wondering if anybody have information about Mercruiser sterndrive SSM III such as maximum power, propeller rotational speed or torque.
It will be appreciated if someone can post catalogs or manual about this unit.
I want use one of SSM III old unit that I just received and there isn't any operation and manual to read about that.
in addition, there is a problem in gimbals, does anyone know how to disassemble two screw in side of gimbal as shown in picture below.

Thanks

That's one of the 'pre-alpha' drives. Along with all the 'O', 'E', 'H' drives. Alpha One was released in 1988, so ANY drive pre-88 is, by definition, 'pre-alpha'... :D

Just saying. ;)

It shares the same top housing with the MC-3 drive. Without seeing the lower housing, or the drive serial number, can't really tell what you have...

It's a 'single, constant direction' drive, so forward, neutral, reverse are selected in the gearbox/transmission that sits between the back of the engine and the transom housing. The drive itself being in constant mesh. There is a left and a right hand version (it's internal to do with how the driven gear in the lower housing is setup). It was used behind both small and big block GM engines, so I would guess it was good to about 450hp.

Chris........
