mercruiser throttle controls

hello all i have 95 bayliner with 7.4 mercruise alpha 3 out drive
my problem is controls got stuck so purchased new controls for gen 2 now my throttle cables dont match the cables seem to be to short and to long for the throw of the controler
any help will be greatly appreciated
