In rebuilding my '76 888 Mercruiser (R drive with 302 Ford), I have founds that the wires going to the trim limiter and sender or history. I havn't sested the switch or sender yet. My question is, is it feasable to replace just the wires? Is it as much of a pain as it looks like to run the wires back through their original position? Can I just be creative and run the wires through an existing hole in the transom? I know this isn't the neatest solution, but it is much easier than taking apart the bellhousing/gimble ring.

Re: Mercruiser trim limit switch

Hi,
I know this sounds dangerous, but I'm so used to
trimming my boat I disconnected that switch. I
put a jummper wire in place of it so I only use two buttons now. I like it better. However I think
you could stick the limmit switch wires through anywhere where they won't get pinched and seal that hole up good. Water leaks are a bummer ya know.
