Mercruiser trim motor

I have just recently purchased a 1994 Four Winns 195 Sundowner. The boat originally had an OMC 5.0 and OMC outdrive. A previous owner replaced the OMC motor and outdrive with a Mercruiser 350 and pre-alpha outdrive. The motor is shot and I am replacing it. My question is about the trim motor. I am trying to determine what trim motor I have. It does not have a plastic resevour on it. It doesn't do anything when I hit the switch, and the cylinders on the outdrive do not hold the outdrive up. Where is the resevouir and if the motor is out of fluid should it still hold up the outdrive? I appreciate the help.

Post a picture, no telling what the previous owner put in.

Re: Mercruiser trim motor

It's a Prestolite pump, single solenoid. Probably early to mid 70's.

So the resevouir is built into the pump? Where is the selenoid? What would be an acceptable replacement pump?
