I am not sure I posted this in the right place but you all can help me... What are the differences in a Mercruiser and OMC inboard engine? I want to take an OMC block and use the Mercruiser exhaust and transom is this possible?

Yes you can do it easily. Just use the long block and bolt all the mercruiser specific stuff to the "OMC" block. (including the flywheel, Mercruiser coupler and housing)

There might be an issue with the type of rear oil seal and how the crankshaft flange is designed which could require a different flywheel I think....

You should also be able to use the starter and alternator.

Might be an obvious thing and don't mean to insult but are they the same make and size?
