I read this forum almost every night because you all always teach me something new. Thank you in advance for helping me out with this question.I recently purchased a boat with a 1983 2.5 120 horsepower mercruiser with a alpha one drive. I did all the normal things in preparing a motor and drive that had been sitting for a while. I started it up on a hose several times and it ran well. The last thing that I did to it was change the impellar and drive fluid. After putting it back together I started the motor. This is when my problem developed. After running it for 10 minutes at idle on the hose I shut it off to check the oil. I discovered several quarts of water mixed in with the oil. The water was in the pan, the back two cylinders and a light milky mixture on the rocking arms (valves). I drained it, removed the oil filture, removed the plugs, turned it over to remove the water, and then sprayed the pistons down with wd40 followed by a little bit of oil. From what I can see from other posts it could be a variety of items that is causing this. Should I start with checking compression? If those two cylinders that were flooded are low in compression then does that mean I have a possible blown head gasket? Thank you for any advice that you all can give.
