I have a question regarding regarding what is known as the connector as shown (looks like a pipe nipple). This is what the oil filter screws onto. To remove it from the block the is a hex opening as shown in the inner part of the nipple. Does anyone know what size allen wrench fits this opening? My 3/8 was too small. Also I'm not sure if it is metric or not. Second question: The part that the oil filter screws onto is standard thread (left loose, right tight) -is the part that screws into the block the same? It doesn't state anything on the online Mercrusier parts catalog. I also have the service manual which doesn't say anything either.
