Mercrusier overheating

I have a 1988 v-8 305 alpha one drive. Motor starts and runs good. Idles at 160. Gets up on plane at 3500 temp starts to climb to dangerous level. Only getting hot on one side of motor. When i back off throttle temp drops. I have tried removing therm, did not help. The motor was overheated big time last year,had to replace exhaust rubbers,both flappers and had heads redone.Has not been right since. Timing is set at 8 degrees before and is advancing when rpms go up. Im stumped. Please help. THANKS for this great site.

What is the condition of the manifolds/risers? If only 1 side is getting hot that's where I would start.

The motor was overheated big time last year,had to replace exhaust rubbers,both flappers and had heads redone.Has not been right since.

did ya go and find most of the pieces of impeller blades that broke off and flowed up stream twds the engine.
