I have a 1968 mercruiser 160 and it will not go in to neutral from forward unless I go in from a higher speed reverse works fine, I tested the interrupter switch and its is good could it be out of adjustment if so could someone tell me how to adjust the interrupter mechanism?
Thanks

Re: mercuiser interrupt switch adjustment

The switch arm needs to be bent. The correct setting is for the arm to move 1/8" to activate. Set a multimeter up on the switch and push the arm until the switch closes. Using a 1/8" drill bit check the gap between the roller and the middle of the switch activating arm (the bit that moves).... Adjust by CAREFULLY bending the arm...
